St. Peter’s Basilica, located in Vatican City, is one of the most important and awe-inspiring churches in the world. It stands on the site where Saint Peter, one of Jesus Christ’s apostles and the first Pope, is believed to have been martyred and buried in the 1st century AD. The original basilica, known as the Old St. Peter’s, was commissioned by Emperor Constantine in the 4th century. Over time, it fell into disrepair, leading to the construction of the current structure in the 16th century.
