The city is the closest area to Mount Ijen. If you come from the west (Surabaya/Jakarta/Yogyakarta) it will be good to stay at Bondowoso. But if you’re from Bali the best way come from Banyuwangi. Many new accommodations near there, so it will make it easy to stay here before heading to Mount Ijen.

Not only the lake and sulfur that you can see here because Mount Ijen some years ago had a new attraction called Blue Flame or local said api biru. The blue flame is not a real natural phenomenon because it happened from the crack in a pipe of sulfur.

About Banyuwangi
Banyuwangi is a regency at the eastern tip of Java, facing Bali across a narrow strait, with the blue-flame crater of Ijen and wild national parks.
Banyuwangi lies at the far east of Java, where the Bali Strait is only a few kilometres wide and ferries cross from the harbour at Ketapang.
