The Chapada dos Guimarães National Park – This is an average of 760 m (2,500 feet) above sea level – is home to the sources of some of the main rivers that flow into the Pantanal. Its crystal clear waterfalls, streams, rock formations, and fauna give the National Park a unique beauty. Nobres has crystal clear rivers full of fish, caves, and waterfalls. About Cuiabá
Cuiabá, the capital of Mato Grosso state, is a hot river city and the usual gateway to the Pantanal, one of the largest tropical wetlands on Earth.
Cuiabá grew from gold prospecting in the eighteenth century and sits on the Cuiabá River in the interior of Brazil, close to the middle of the continent. Its old quarter has churches and colonial-era houses. A monument in the city marks the spot that Cuiabá claims as the geodesic centre of South America.
