  1. The museum explores the period from August 1972 to May 2007 to explain how the conflict evolved into the peace process and the impact of both on the local area. The museum uses artefacts, oral history, archive footage, interactive features and unique displays to explain how the Agreement was reached, its implementation and its potential implications for the future of the island. It also features the key role played by three Bogsiders – John Hume, Martin McGuinness and Mitchel McLaughlin – in creating the conditions that have led to the peace we all enjoy today. All three men played a key role in developing the 1998 Good Friday Agreement which provided a political template for resolving the conflict and a future which could be determined on the principle of consent.

About Derry-Londonderry

Derry, also called Londonderry, is a walled city on the River Foyle in Northern Ireland, with intact seventeenth-century ramparts and a layered history.

Derry stands on the River Foyle in the north-west of Northern Ireland, and its seventeenth-century walls, about a mile round, are the most complete city walls in Ireland and can be walked along the top. The Guildhall, a neo-Gothic building with stained-glass windows, stands beside the river, and St Columb's Cathedral dates from the 1630s. The Siege of Derry of 1688 and 1689 is the best-known episode in its history.
