Instead of simply buying souvenir chopsticks, create a pair that is truly your own. Choose your favorite from a variety of beautiful woods, each with its own unique color, grain, and character. Using a traditional Japanese “kanna” hand plane, you’ll shape your chopsticks from scratch, smooth the surface by hand, and finish them with natural oil under the guidance of the instructor. For an even more personal touch, you can optionally engrave your name or a special message on the ends of your chopsticks, creating a one-of-a-kind souvenir from your time in Japan. More than just something to take home, you’ll leave with a pair of chopsticks you crafted yourself—and the memory of making them.
