Kaunas Castle is a medieval castle situated in Kaunas, the second-largest city in Lithuania. Archeological evidence suggests that it was originally built during the mid-14th century, in the Gothic style. Its site is strategic – a rise on the banks of the Nemunas River near its confluence with the Neris River. At the beginning of the 21st century, about one-third of the castle was still standing.

About Kaunas
Kaunas is Lithuania's second city, where the Nemunas and Neris meet, with a medieval old town, a pedestrian avenue and interwar modernist buildings.
The old town sits at the point where the Neris joins the Nemunas, with a medieval castle, a cobbled Town Hall Square and the white Town Hall, nicknamed the White Swan, at its heart. Vilnius Street, lined with merchants' houses, runs through the old town, and the Gothic Vytautas the Great Church stands in brick close to the river.
