5Sandy Hop Tour
I chose the Sandy Hop Tour where Kellie was my guide, and it was a 10/10 experience! Kellie didn’t rush anything and was great to spot some platypus for us. I couldn’t find many reviews on this tour, so I was very unsure about it, but I’m so glad I did it in the end!
5Sandy hop tour
We did the sandy hop tour over 2 days. We started the first day with finch Hutton gorge for a nice walk and a swim in the water. Is was so Nice! After that we had some delicious lunch and headed for the platypus tour. We only saw one given the time of year. But we had the joy of seeing it for over an hour! The next day was the wallabies at cape Hillsborough. We enjoyed it as well and a lot of wallabies to see. Both days we had Kellie for our guide. She was so awesome and very good at showing us around. She vas very nice and helped with pictures along the way. If you have her as your guide you are in luck!
5A great day out.
Michelle was anexcellent guide, full of information and highly approachable. The pub/pie lunch was excellent. Platypus viewing was a major highlight.
5Michelle was a great tour...
Michelle was a great tour guide - very knowledgeable and helpful. It was a great day out - beautiful scenery, was wonderful seeing platypus, a pitta, a Ulysses butterfly, fruit bats, a blue helmeted honeyeater, a brush turkey and turtles. Lunch was wonderful also - great pies. Would highly recommend this tour.
5We saw one!
This was a friendly well run experience. Nathan our driver/guide was safe and knowledgeable and the bus comfortable. The swim was a good way to cool off and the two pools nice to swim in. Lunch was in a characterful old tavern - (you can have pretty much anything you like as long as it's a pie). The highlight was seeing a platypus, which requires patience but Nathan was a good spotter and we saw at least one, possibly two, as well as plenty of turtles. The final stop was at a spectacular lookout. A great day, delivered with enthusiasm and professionally.
5Fabulous platypus adventure
Michele our tour guide was fantastic. Loved her stories about all the little towns we drove through and her knowledge of the area and with the wildlife including the platypus.

About Mackay
Mackay is a sugar-growing city on Queensland's central coast, with art deco streets, a river lined with parks, and rainforest and beach reserves close by.
Mackay stands on the Pioneer River, where flat fields of sugar cane run to the sea, and it is often called the sugar capital of Australia. A cyclone in 1918 destroyed much of the centre, and it was rebuilt in the fashionable styles of the 1920s and 1930s, so that many art deco facades survive along its main streets. Parks and a promenade follow the river.
