About The Hague
The Hague, on the North Sea coast of South Holland, is the Dutch seat of government, home to international courts, art museums and a long beach.
The Hague is not the capital of the Netherlands, which is Amsterdam, but the government and parliament sit here, around the Binnenhof, a medieval complex of buildings beside a pond, the Hofvijver, with the Knights' Hall at its centre. The Mauritshuis, a small museum beside the pond, holds Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring and Rembrandt's Anatomy Lesson of Dr Nicolaes Tulp.
Top-ranked sights in The Hague: Royal Delft (Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles), Peace Palace (Vredespaleis), Inner Court & Hall of Knights (Binnenhof & Ridderzaal).
