About Beppu

Beppu is a hot-spring city on Kyushu's east coast, with steaming spring pools called hells, sand baths and mountains rising behind the bay.

Beppu, in Oita Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, sits between mountains and the sea, and plumes of steam rise from vents across the town.
