Inaugurated on October 12, 1931, on the day of Our Lady of Aparecida, Cristo Redentor is a statue of reinforced concrete and soapstone 30 meters high, not counting the 8 meters of the pedestal, and its arms stretch for an incredible 28 meters wide. The statue weighs 1145 tons and is the third largest sculpture of Jesus Christ in the world.
