About Douz
Douz is an oasis town on the edge of the Sahara in southern Tunisia, a base for camel treks, dunes and salt lakes, known as the gateway to the desert.
Douz lies at the northern edge of the Grand Erg Oriental, the great sand sea of the Sahara, in southern Tunisia, and is surrounded by palm groves that stretch to the first dunes. The Mrazig people, a Bedouin community, settled here, and the town still holds a weekly market where nomads and farmers sell dates, livestock and crafts.
